After wines Russia restricts Moldovan vegetable and fruit imports

Russia did not confine itself with Moldovan wine supply reduction and has imposed a ban on importing vegetables and fruits by many Moldovan companies.

Agriculture Ministry Valeriu Cosarciuc said "over 100 companies from 136, which had the right to export vegetables and fruits to Russia, were excluded of the authorized list last week".

"Only 33 companies can presently supply to Russian markets fruit and vegetable products", Cosarciuc said.

According to him, the main reason of suspending is pesticides revealed in these goods.

Prime Minister Vladimir Filat said the Russia's export suspension is a big problem for Moldova, which must be quickly solved.

Ministry leadership held a meeting with vegetable and fruit exporters to tell them about Russian authorities' decision and to find a solution.

Infotag's dossier: About 80% of Moldovan vegetables and fruits are exported to Russia. Last time Russian authorities stopped 19 tons of apples under the pretext that documents were not properly completed.
