Air Moldova continues to be the leading airline in Moldova
By Valeriu Gonta / Chisinau / Moldova.org /-- About 487,000 passengers were transported during 2011 by Air Moldova, the leading airline in the Republic of Moldova. According to the official data of the company the airline registered a growth of the volume of passenger traffic by 5% comparing to 2010. The most important growth is noted on flights to Kiev (94%), Vienna (89%), London (84%) and Paris (34%).
During last year the airline opened two new destinations – Surgut and Sochi. Over 7,000 passengers were transported to Sochi.
An increase by 34% was registered on the sales of plane tickets on their official website. According to the airline $65 million could be earned as a result of on-line sales.
Air Moldova is the most important airline on Moldova’s aviation market. It operates flights to 20 destinations: Frankfurt, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Antalya, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaka, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Varna, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Surgut and Kiev, offering to its passengers two Class of service - Business and Economy.
Other 14 domestic and foreign airlines operate on Chisinau International Airport.
