ANRE does not intend revising tariffs on gas

Tariffs on gas will remain at the existing level because the energy sector is governed not by the court, but the National Energy Regulator Agency (ANRE). The statement was made by its Director General Victor Parlicov concerning the Supreme Court of Justice's (SCJ) decision over the suit filed by the Moldova Unita [United Moldova] Party against ANRE.

He said population will continue paying for gas same prices as it were in May. "There is still no execution act of the SCJ. But even if it comes - we will immediately restore same tariffs be means of another decision", Parlicov said.

According to him, existing tariff are real and must be paid.

"Leader of Moldova Unita Vladimir Turcan shall produce his political capital in another place, not due to ANRE", the agency director said.

The SCJ canceled the Court of Appeal's decision that provided party's suit against ANRE's decision on growing gas tariffs in May must be excluded from examination. This means that, according to the first instance court, consumers must pay at old tariffs established in January 2010.
