Authorities to cooperate with EBRD within edifice energy efficiency project


The authorities of Moldova will cooperate with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within the implementation of a project on the edifice energy efficiency.

By the end of the Governmental session on Wednesday, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that Moldova will sign a memorandum with the EBRD next week, where will be established cooperation basis for a medium term.

"The EBRD is the main Moldovan partner within the energy sector. Let me tell you a secret. We strive for Moldova to become the first country of the Commonwealth of Independent Countries (CIS) that will implement mechanisms of the edifice energy efficiency at the legislative level. We tasked to be seriously engaged in the field thanks to the help of the EBRD that is one of our most important partners in the field of legislation, best practice application, as well as in the financing sector", Lazar said.

He said the implementation of edifice energy efficiency projects will allow saving considerable financial resources.

"Being an energy-resource importing country, we must task ourselves to use all instruments that will help us reducing the energy intensity and paying less money thanks to this. The assessments show that we will be able to save 30-40% of our energy balance and 10-15% of renewable resources respectively, if we apply energy efficiency instruments", Lazar said.
