Average salary in Moldova under $250
The average salary in Moldova in January constituted 2 699 lei ($211) - by 5.6% more than a year ago. At the same time it accounted for $241 in terms of USD.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in January the average salary of civil servants exceeded 2 375 lei (+13.3%), and in the real economy sector - 2 899 (+2.3%).
The average salary in the education sector increased for a year by 24.7% - up to 2 203 lei, in the health and social protection sector - by 17.7% - up to 2 636 lei.
The highest average salary was traditionally registered in the banking and financial sector - 5 533 lei, though it was 5% less than in January 2009. It was followed by average salary registered at the heating, power-generating, gas and water supply enterprises - 4 401 lei (-2.7%).
The most considerable salary decrease was in the mining industry (-17.5%) and in the building sector (-7.5%).
The lowest average salary was traditionally registered in the agrarian sector and fishery - 1 294-1298 lei.
