Adrian Candu

“As regards the debt of Transnistria, Gazprom should ackowledge the existence of two amounts. One belongs to the Transnistrian region and the other one to Moldova. The second one is significantly lower”. The statement was made by the member of the Democratic party, Adrian Candu, inprofunzime.md portal reports.

The Liberal Democrat MP Veaceslav Ionita stated that if we would have the third energy package, then we would not discuss Transnistria’s debt to Gazprom.

As regards natural gas calorific value, Veaceslav Ionita specified that there is a provision in the agreement on changing the gas price one there is a deviation. “When signing a contract with Russian Federation, we see the natural gas calorific value. If there is another calorific value, one pay more or less depending on the value”, the Liberal Democrat affirmed.

Veaceslav Ionita also mentioned that a number of factors are analyzed while discussing the agreement. “We discuss the transit price, the gas price, the debt, natural gas calorific value. All elements of an agreement are discussed”, said Veaceslav Ionita.

The Democrat Adrian Candu specified that only technical details are discussed during negotiations. “The issues related to the energy package, integration into the Euro-Asiatic Union, the consulate in Tiraspol fall into the political dimension and are discussed at other meetings”, Adrian Candu concluded.

According to the data in mass media, Moldovagaz owes Gazprom over 680 million dollars, this being the debt of 2006-2008. Less than 8% of this amount is the debt of Chisinau, the rest being the debt of Transnistrian region. Transnistria’s debt to Gazprom is currently almost three billion dollars.
