Central bank says situation in banking sector is stable
The National Bank of Moldova says that the situation in the banking sector of the country is stable and the banks face no problems in honoring their commitments to depositors and economic entities.
The central bank says they took all the measures needed to prevent the effects of the world financial crisis on the national economy, and denies the press reports that the situation in the banking sector has destabilized.

The bank says that the meetings called by President Vladimir Voronin to discuss the situation on the financial and banking sector never considered placing restrictions on the sums withdrawn from banks by the population and withdrawing bank licenses, which is a prerogative of the central bank.
