Credit worth US$14m for implementing national water supply and sewerage project
Moldova will receive a credit worth about US$14 million to implement the national water supply and sewerage project. The Parliament on July 9 ratified the financing agreement between the Government of Moldova and the International Development Association, which was signed on June 2.
The credit is repayable in 40 years, with a grace period of 10 years, at an interest rate is 0.75%. The money will be used to improve the coverage, quality, efficiency and reliability of the water supply and sewerage services in Balti, Cahul, Causeni, Floresti, Orhei, Soroca, and Ungheni towns. Water pipes will be installed at the divisions of Apa-Canal. There will be repaired or built drinking water supply projects in 50 school institutions in 50 villages.
The project also envisages the improvement of energy efficiency in the water supply and wastewater treatment activities at local level, reduction of gas emissions with greenhouse effect, carrying out of energy audits, hydrologic optimization and repair of the electro-mechanic equipment.//REPORTER.MD
