Employees of Glodeni sugar factory will protest in downtown Chisinau
Employees of the Glodeni sugar factory intend to picket edifices of the Government, Economic Court of Appeal, Prosecutor General's Office, Ministry of Justice and Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption on Wednesday. They demand authorities to immediately pay off debts on salaries and relieve leaders of the trade union from criminal accusations.
As Infotag has already reported, employees of Glodeni-Zahar have not received their salaries since June 2009 due to the fact that the company is in the insolvency process and its assets have been repeatedly resold. The only liquid asset it has is 2.5 thousand tons of sugar assessed at the amount of 35 million lie. Employees of the enterprise and their trade union insist on that salary debts would be paid off in the first place at the expense of sugar selling.
But the sugar is pledged, and employees impede its transportation away the factory territory, laying down in front of truck wheels and blocking roads by personal automobiles. Last days, they were blocking the railroad branch, which accesses the enterprise territory. Due to this, criminal proceedings on arbitrariness against 5 leaders of the trade union have been started, and they risk getting the up to 8-year imprisonment.
"We demand [enterprise leadership] to pay off the salary debt, to keep jobs and discharge all accusations against members of our trade union. We call on the Government and other competent organs of the Republic of Moldova to take measures, so the law and justice would triumph over", Deputy Chair of the enterprise trade union Valentina Semeniuc said in an interview.
