FDI in Moldova in 2008 rose 43.4%
The foreign direct investment (FDI) in Moldova last year totaled US$815.83 million, up 43.4% from a year before.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the net FDI was US$679.6 million, an increase of 37.7% year on year. The foreign direct investment in share capital was US$443.89 million, up 1.8 times compared with 2007.
The FDI in the registered capital of banks fell by 22% to US$31.12 million, while the investment in the registered capital of companies working in other sectors of the economy rose 1.9 times to US$412.77 million.
The reinvested profit in 2008 was US$103.05 million, a decrease of 8.6% compared with 2007. The volume of loans granted by the main companies to daughter companies increased by 31.4% to US$268.89 million.
