Foreign trade deficit of Moldova goes up about us$200 million in September


The foreign trade deficit of Moldova went up about US$200 million in September exceeding US$1.625 billion in the beginning of September. It was favored by the Moldovan import growth by 15.5% during January-September in comparison to the analogous period of 2009, while the export growth was only 12.9%.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the trade balance deficit of the republic went up 17.2% during the year; and the level of imports' covering by exports went down to 38.4% from 39.2%.

Moldova supplied overseas goods to an amount of US$1.011 billion during first 9 months of 2010. At the same time, 53.3% of exports went to the European Union (+2.1%). The imported produce amount to the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States] countries went up 19.4% - to US$390.7 million. The imports from the EU went up 19.2% - to US$1.189 billion, and from the CIS - only by 2.7% - to US$833.9 million.

The biggest foreign trade partner of Moldova is still Russia that leads in order of export amounts - US$247.8 million (+31.4%). At the same time, it ranked the 2nd for imported amounts - US$372.5 million (+62.4%) by making way for Ukraine - US$374.2 million (+16.1%). The Russia's lot in the Moldovan exports is 24.5%, and in the imports - 14.1%.

Main branches of the Moldovan exports are industrial goods (shoes, clothes, fancy goods furniture) - US$252.6 million; food stuff and livestock - US$2.2775 billion, beverages and tobacco goods - US$140.9 million.

Most considerable amounts in the imports (US$2.636 billion) had automobiles and equipment - US$544.4 million, oil produces and fuels - US$5264 million, industrial goods - US$508.5 million.

Moldova has a positive trade balance only with several countries as the Great Britain - US$19.4 million (the 3 time growth), Georgia - US$9 million (+47.1%), Kazakhstan - US$8.3 million (from the US$148.9 million deficit during January-September 2009), Iraq - US$5.2 million.
