Gas rates up by 12.2 per cent on average in Moldova
The National Agency for Regulation of Energy (ANRE) today approved new gas rates, which exceed the present ones by 12.2 per cent on average.
The households consuming less than 30 cubic metres of gas monthly will pay 4,777 lei (over 295 euros) for 1,000 cubic metres, which makes by 659 lei more than so far. Households with a monthly consumption of more than 30 cubic metres will pay 5,146 lei for 1,000 cubic metres of gas.
The gas rates for the thermal electric power stations hiked by 15 per cent, reaching 4,144 lei per 1,000 cubic metres.
Attending the ANRE meeting, Moldovagaz head Alexandru Gusev contested the new rates, expressing discontent with the fact that normative losses and technological consumption were not included in the rates. Moldovagaz asked the ANRE to take into consideration 49 million cubic metres while calculating the new rates, while the ANRE accepted only 32 millions.
The new rates will enter into force after the decision is published in the official paper Monitorul Oficial.
The last increase in the gas rates took place on 14 May 2010, when they soared by about 14 per cent.
