Government fails to achieve expected results from privatization

The privatization started by the Government of Prime Minister Vladimir Filat has not bring the expected results, presumes Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar.

During an interview, he said the privatization profits are 4 times less than expected this year.

"We earned up to 100 million lei due to the privatization, though we expected to have 350 million in the beginning, and even 430 million lei after there were made amendments to the Budget Law", Lazar said.

According to him, these modest results were caused by the fact that Moldova is "in the beginning of the economy revival, which forces investors to be more careful and to wait for better times".

Lazar said that state property objects, which could not be sold, will be offered for sale in the future.

"The people must understand that privatization is an interrupted process. We will offer them for sale until we sell them", the Minister said.

Infotag's dossier: The Public Property Agency (PPA) under the Ministry of Economy organized 3 auctions for selling state enterprise stocks at the Moldova Stock Exchange (MSE), earning about 55 million lei. There were also conducted several commercial and investment competitions. But most objects were not sold due to the high price, according to prospective customers.
