Government to increase financing agriculture risks
The state will pay 80% of the agricultural producers' insurance contributions. This is envisaged by amendments to the Law on Subsidized Insurance of Agriculture Risks, approved by the Government on Wednesday.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Anatolie Gorodenco said, when the agricultural producers conclude agreements with insurance companies, they must submit a certificate, confirming the existence of the property to be insured from the Mayor's
offices. In this case they pay only 20% of the insurance contributions, envisaged by the agreement, for agricultural products and animals, the remaining part will be covered from the state budget.
At present the subsidy size for insurance of perennial plantations, sugar beet and vegetables constitutes 60%, and 50% - of the remaining crops and animals.
The state budget-2007 allocates 15 million lei for subsidizing agriculture risks. // Infotag
