Head of EU delegation details 90-million-euros grant for Moldova
Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Dirk Schuebel has given details on a 90-million-euros grant given to Moldova. Contacted by MOLDPRES, the European official said that the grant cand be used only to stabilize the country's macro-financial situation.
Fifty million euros will be transferred this autumn, and the rest of 40 million in 2011. "The process of approval within the European structures is about to end, but there is a string of conditions which should be fulfilled," Dirk Schuebel said.
A delegation of experts of the European Commission is to come to Chisinau soon to analyze the situation, and the first installment will be transferred only after that. The head of the EU Delegation added: "We are happy that the European Parliament managed to quickly pass the approval procedures."
The assistance comes in the context of the negotiations on the Moldova-European Union association agreement, which started on 12 January 2010.
