IMF gives Moldova 142 million USD
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) gave Moldova over 142 million USD under the Special Drawing Rights (SDR), money already in the accounts of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), stated Deputy Governor of the NBM, Marin Molosag. The deputy governor of the NBM added that by the end of this week Moldova would be one of the countries to have received a special allotment of 41 mln USD, amount received in particular by the countries that joined the Fund after 1981. ‘This money will be kept as NBM’s foreign exchange reserves, being used to ensure the stability of the national currency and balance of payments of the state’, said the NBM representative. The general allotment under the SDR of the IMF totals 250 bn USD and is part of the IMF’s support programme for redressing the global economy in recession. The amount mentioned is given to all the IMF member states.
