IMF's financing programme successfully implemented
The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) financing programme is being successfully implemented by Moldova. IMF Resident Representative in Moldova Johan Mathisen made statements to this effect within a today s meeting with Speaker Marian Lupu, the parliamentary press and image service has said.
Mathisen reiterated that the IMF programme's provisions are carried out properly and in line with the deadline seen in the IMF-Moldova cooperation memorandum.
Lupu highlighted that the authorities will press ahead with the ascendant pace of reforms and practical implementation of commitments undertaken towards international financial bodies.
The sides tackled the development of the financial sector, particularly the amendment of the legislation streamlined towards creating a mega regulator of the financial market. Thus, the chairman of the parliamentary commission for economic policy, budget and finance, Nicolae Bondarciuc, who participated in the event as well, underscored that this month, the parliament will consider a set of bills regulating the activity of the National Commission of Stocks and Shares, the stock exchanges and the stock companies.
Johan Mathisen spoke out for examining and adopting this set of bills in the formula earlier negotiated by the government and the IMF. "It meets Moldova's interests to amend the legislation in line with the earlier reached agreements between the Moldova authorities and the IMF," Lupu said. The speaker stressed that observing the concerned agreements is a key element of the further cooperation within the programme signed with the IMF in the spirit of good partnership and collaboration.
The officials also approached aspects related to a visit to Chisinau by a new IMF assessment mission, scheduled for end-April. // Moldpres
