Japanese government grants $213.9k to Moldova
The Japanese Government has allocated a grant in the amount of $214 thousand to Moldova for the implementation of three projects in the frame of the Kusanone free small-scale assistance.
Mr. Tadashi IZAWA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Moldova Japanese Ambassador said at the ceremony of the signing of agreements that $84.6 were allocated for the upgrading of the equipment in the surgical block and intensive therapy section of the National Scientific-practical center of Urgent Medicine.
The Ambassador said that Japan allocated $50.7 thousand for the improvements of educational conditions at the school in the Hulboaca village in the Gratiesti raion. These financial resources will be used for purchasing new furniture, equipment for physical culture and labor classes.
In his words, the third project envisages the granting of new medical equipment, including ultrasonic device, apparatus for artificial ventilation of lungs, electrocardiograph, surgical instruments and spirograph worth totally US$8.5 thousand to Anenii Noi raion hospital.
Japan allocated also $81.5 thousand to improve the exhibition and restoration equipment in the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova. Some examples of eligible projects may include Japanese language education equipment for the Japanese language departments at universities, sound and lighting equipment for theatres, audio-visual equipment for art galleries and museums, sports equipment for sports facilities and organizations.
According to the Ambassador, the assistance granted by Japan is extremely important for Moldova and the Japanese Government hopes that it will allow improving medical and educational conditions in the institutions".
Japan has provided assistance to Moldovan cultural and educational institutions since year 2001 and its total amount accounted for over 1 million US dollars. Apart from this grant, Japan has provided grant aid to Moldova in the amount of over USD 70.5 million.
