Mihai Ghimpu asks IMF's permission to increase budget deficit

The Moldovan Liberal Party Chairman, MP Mihai Ghimpu presumes the International Monetary Fund could permit the Moldovan Government to build up the 2011 Budget deficit figure.

On Monday, Ghimpu met with Nikolai Gueorguiev, Head of the IMF mission working in Moldova these days, and with the IMF Resident Representative in Moldova Tokhir Mirzoev, and said that such increased deficit would let fund projects in infrastructure development, capital investment, create new jobs and ensure a better social protection for the populace.

Ghimpu admitted here that all this could be possible only in the conditions of a political stability in the republic, and if a president is elected without delay.

According to Mihai Ghimpu's estimates, the perspectives of a sustainable economic growth in Moldova are "much promising", and the new Parliament and Government are supposed to realize ambitious economic reforms in conformity with the governing Alliance for European Integration's program of country governance.
