Moldova and Austria are interested in winemaking cooperation
According to Moldova-vin agency, a delegation of the agency has recently visited Vienna to participate in a sitting of the Austrian-Moldovan Commission for Economic Cooperation.
"In the course of a working meeting in the Parliament the Stiria administrative region of Austria in the person of the local authorities showed interest to Moldovan wines and the red wines of the Mezalimpe company were offered to official persons. Moldovan representatives have already established a dialogue with interested persons from this zone and they are currently preparing information materials to be sent to Stiria", experts communicated.
In 2008 Moldova practically exported nothing to Austria, though about 15% of Moldova's total wine exports fell on the European Union.
The agency experts consider the prospects for the cooperation with Austrian economic entities, in particular, from Stiria, as very promising.
Though Austria is a big grape growing and winemaking country, which has 55 thousand hectares of vineyards, its residents consume various wines. Moldovan economic entities can find their place at this market by offering red and sparkling wines, divins and vodkas.
At the beginning of 2009 the Moldovan Embassy to Austria put forward an initiative to organize a presentation of Moldovan winemaking products in Austria.
