Moldova: Budget revenues drop by 15% due to economic meltdown
As of July 1, the revenues of the Moldovan state budget constituted 6.1 billion lei - by 15% (1 billion lei) less against the same period of 2008, Deputy Minister of Finance Nina Lupan said at a governmental sitting on Monday.
She said that 39.6% of the revenues were provided by National Tax Inspectorate (NTI) and 65.7% - by the Customs Service.
"The target of the National Tax Inspectorate was fulfilled by 91.1%, and the target of the Customs Service - by 82.4%", she remarked.
The Deputy Minister of Finance recognized that the budget expenditures also increased considerably up to 7.6 billion lei, though it accounts only for 77.4% of the target. The main part of the expenditures will be used for effecting social payments.
Moldova's external payments constituted US$31.8 million and 340.2 million lei were used to repay the internal debts.
The revenues of the local budgets decreased by 103.8 million lei, whereas the expenditures increased by 134.1 million lei.
According to Lupan, the Government transferred 574 million lei (+104.2 million lei) to the Social Security Fund. The Health Insurance Fund accumulated 566.8 million lei.
