Moldova could resume exports of wine in bulk to Russia
Moldova will resume the export of wine in bulk to Russia until the end of September on condition that Russia pays 100% of the contract’s value in advance. The statement was made by the director general of the Agroindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin”, Iurie Carp.
According to Carp, Moldova has already worked out the mechanism for exporting wine in bulk to Russia. “Only 5-10 companies will export wine in bulk initially. The exports will be subjected to rigorous control because the quality of the Moldovan wine supplied to Russia is at stake,” Carp said.
Moldova suspended the export of wine in bulk on January 1, 2007 following the initiation of quality control measures by the Government. In April 2008, the exports of wine materials were resumed to all the countries, except Russia.
As Moldova-Vin informed, the exports of wine in bulk over the first six months of this year rose by 55% compared with the corresponding period last year – from about US$18 million to over US$28 million.
