Moldova intends to renovate 1000 sq km of roads every year
"Each year the Ministry of Transport and Roads will renovate 1 thousand square km of national roads, whereas the remaining part will be repaired", Minister of Transport and Roads Anatolie Salaru told Infotag.
"Thus, 90% of the Moldovan roads are in need of the urgent capital repair, as during the winter they were damaged by bad weather", he said.
In the minister's words, this year the expenses for the repair will be two-threefold more considerable than in 2009, but it is necessary 4 billion Euros to repair all the roads.
He remarked that the repair will begin, as soon as the air temperature will increase up to 10 degrees.
The Moldovan road network includes over 16.8 thousand km; 3.6 thousand of them are national. The road fund for 2010 will constitute 580 million lei (about 33 million Euros). About 80 million lei out of this sum will be allocated for acquiring road repair equipment.
