Moldova might import natural gas from Ukraine
Moldova might have to buy natural gas from Ukraine if the bargaining between Moldova and Gazprom, the Russian gas provider, will fail.
The statement was made by Viktor Ianucovici, the Ukrainian President, according to Marian Lupu, the acting president of Moldova.
Kiev has accepted to sell a part of its natural gas to Moldova, if needed. At the moment, the Republic of Moldova buys natural gas from Gazprom. The previous contract expired on the 31st of December 2011, but it was extended for three more months in order to have time for discussions and negotiations with Russia.
