Moldova receives $173.55 million credits from overseas during January-September


Moldova has obtained foreign credits to an amount of US$173.55 million during January-September 2010.

According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) data, the main part of credits - US$121.74 million - was provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the 2010-2012 cooperation memorandum signed by the IMF and the Republic of Moldova.

The 2nd biggest creditor is the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank that provided Moldova with US$26.52 million; the 3rd one is the Government of Poland - US$15 million.

The main part of credits - US$136.74 million (78.8%) is aimed for supporting the Budget. The rest of it - for financing investment projects in agriculture, energy sector, transports, road infrastructure, communications and information.

Infotag's dossier: By the end of January, the IMF adopted a memorandum with the Moldova Government on 2010-2012 that provides the US$574 credit assigning to the republic for restoring tax and external stability, for supporting financial stability, economy growth and the poverty level lowering. Moldova already received first 2 tranche and next will be provided after half-year inspections. The memorandum stipulates that credits will be provided if the Government conducts a coordinated budgetary and fiscal policy.
