Moldova to negotiate $500 million loan terms with Russia in Moscow
In the nearest future, a delegation from the Moldovan Ministry of Finance will go to Moscow to negotiate the terms of the US$500-million Russian credit for this republic, it was said at the meeting Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin had with Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Moldova Valery Kuzmin on July 30.
The head of state highlighted the importance of Russian support for Moldova's efforts to reduce the negative consequences of the world crisis for the national economy. Voronin stressed Moldova had many a time proved its solvency and payment accuracy, including at effecting payments for Russian natural gas.
The interlocutors spoke out for launching negotiations on drafting an Inter-Governmental Agreement on the labor activity and protection of the social rights of migrant workers.
The parties discussed also the cooperation between the two countries in the cultural sphere, provision of 160 scholarships for Moldovan students to go to Russian universities, and the forthcoming installation of a monument to Dmitrii Cantemir at the Tsaritsino Museum near Moscow.
