Moldova to soon work out new methodology of oil pricing

The actual methodology of fuel pricing is not the most perfect one, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said.

During the Governmental session on Wednesday, he said that authorities together with oil product market operators intend to draft a new methodology of pricing, using practices of other countries, for example, of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and France.

"There is being created now a joint work group that will work out the new pricing methodology. I will not go into details, but I am sure that we will find a better methodology, thus and so, we will use the best European practices", the Deputy Premier said.

According to him, there is no certainty that the application of the new pricing methodology w ill lead to the reduction in price of the fuel.

"I do not know for sure whether we are able to cause the reduction of prices on oil products, but everyone will feel and will understand that price fluctuations will be reasonable from the economic point of view", Lazar said.
