Moldova will carry out all-republican agricultural census in March - April 2011
The first in the Moldova's independence history general agricultural census (GAC) will be carried out between March 15 and April 15, 2011. The statement was provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) at a press conference on Thursday.
As Infotag has already reported, the census purpose is to collect as much as possible trustworthy and volume information, necessary to draft an agriculture and development policy, as well for carrying out negotiations upon the Moldova's joining to the European Union.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the census data's importance can scarcely be overestimated for Moldova, as far as about farm lands occupy about 75% of republican lands; about 28% of the population is employed in the agriculture field; the farm good share in the exports is 49%; the sector's share in gross domestic product is 12%.
Within the census, organizers will raise information upon the agriculture in tote, including small holdings of people, regardless of its dimensions. Experts intend to establish the farm production structure, lands upon their usage purpose - plowed fields, orchards, vineyards, number of fruit trees and vine bushes, number and variety of cattle and poultry, agricultural equipment and engines, number of people employed in the sector.
The census expenses are assessed in the amount of 67 million lei. The half of the sum will be provided by the Swedish Government; another 1 million lei will be provided by the European Union; the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) promised to provide a technical assistance; as well as Governments of Romania and the U.S.A. The Moldova's contribution will be about 17 million lei.
As Infotag has already reported, the Moldovan Government launched preparation for the first nation-wide complete agricultural censes yet in early 2007. The 2011 census is to cover agricultural enterprises of all ownership types, amateur orchard associations, subsidiary household land plots, private persons the owners of land, livestock and bees. At the very beginning, the Government thought the census would require some 5.5 million euros. Accordingly, sources of financing were going to be projected in the Budgets for 2008-2010. But the census has been postponed for several times due to the money lack.
