Acting President Mihai Ghimpu on 27 April paid a visit to the Romanian Chamber of Commerce where he considered investments opportunities with Romanian business people, MOLDPRES special correspondent has reported from Bucharest.

The head of state unveiled a report on the activity of enterprises with Romanian capital in Moldova and asked Romanian business people and officials of the Chamber of Commerce to look for opportunities to invest in Moldova.

"We can restore the economy after the latest crisis only with investments from abroad, and Moldova is a worthy destination for Romanian business people to make investments," Mihai Ghimpu stressed.

Romanian business representatives said that the Moldovan authorities should amend and complete the legislation so as to be attractive from the viewpoint of investments. "Nobody will invest big sums, as long as the legislation is not amended and foreigners have no right to buy land," the Lukoil representative in Romania said.

Attending the event, Chisinau general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said that many foreign companies run in Chisinau, which means that investments can be made. Also, Chirtoaca showed confidence that Moldova would be a suitable place for foreign investors, especially as the enterprises' maintenance is cheap and there are double export opportunities - both to the East and to the West.

Data presented by Ghimpu show that Romania ranks second in terms of trade exchanges after Russia. The foreign trade between Moldova and Romania amounted to 55.3 million dollars in 2009.
