Moldovan authorities and IMF to consider possibilities of increasing pensions and salaries
The authorities of Moldova will consider together with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) possibilities of increasing pensions and salaries in 2011. The statement was provided by Prime Minister Vladimir Filat in an interview with the Pro TV television channel recently.
He said a mission of the IMF will have to come to Chisinau in the end of February for assessing progresses the country achieved during last year.
"The economic growth level reached 6% in 2010, and it proves that the undertaken measures were true. The inflation was 8%. At the same time, we agreed together with the IMF the budgetary deficit at the level of 5.7%, but it was 2.6% in reality", he said.
According to him, these economic parameters allow authorities considering the salary increasing possibility with the IMF.
"I think that we will succeed in. Of course, the increase will happen, it is necessary only that our point of view is coordinated with foreign partners", the Premier said, adding the salary-increasing policy is one of the main problems of the Government.
According to the Prime Minister, it is very important to provide sources for such increase.
Concerning the medicine prices, Filat said that their reduction is a result of activities aimed at the dismantling of schemes that were being built during many years at the state level.
"It is a highway robbery. All actions were covered by so-called legal norms, which allowed importers declaring different prices at customs stations. We must undertake additional measures for dismantling the system once and for all, and I am sure, we will manage to do this", Filat said.
The Premier said he hopes the new Government will work 4 years.
Filat said the corruption phenomenon is not eliminated in the country yet, due to the legislation imperfection, as well as that people who lead organizations aimed at the struggle against corruption are not able to do this. He said that these institutions will be soon led by new persons, who are able to bring the situation under control.
