Moldovan energy regulator approves tariff-included expenses lower than demanded by gas operator

The National Agency for Regulation of Energy (ANRE) has accepted to calculate new gas tariffs based on the new price for Russian gas, as well as on the basic costs for distribution, transportation and operational expenses as requested by the joint venture Moldovagaz.

Yet, the ANRE described as groundless and rejected expenses worth 32.9 million lei (over 2 million euros) that Moldovagaz wanted to be included in the new tariff. All in all, Moldovagaz demanded a 13.1-per-cent increase in the gas tariff, according to a communiquй by the energy regulator.

Thus, Moldovagaz requested the approval of basic costs for the distribution of natural gas worth 336.5 million lei, but the ANRE decreased them by 23.5 million lei. It also decreased expenses for gas transportation by 1.7 million lei, lowering them to 73.5 million lei. Moreover, the operational expenses fell to 28.3 million lei, down by 7.7 million lei (21.4 per cent of the requested sum). The biggest cuts were operated in expenses for labour remuneration.

The basic costs for transportation, distribution and delivery of natural gas established by the ANRE administrative council entered into force on 7 January and will serve as working tools for the calculation of new gas tariffs.
