Moldovan entrepreneurs stand for improvement of legislative basis


Moldovan entrepreneurs have said that it is necessary to improve the legislative basis for improving the business environment in the country. The information was provided in conformity with the results of an anonymous opinion poll, conducted by the Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Moldova in the end of 2010.

During a press conference on Tuesday, its Chair Vadim Drelinschi said that in conformity with the respondents' opinion, it is necessary to improve the work of municipal and state structures.

"The corruption disturbs most of all when one conduct a business (97%), because it undermines basis of the market economy, increases entrepreneurial and credit risks, deters prospective investors", he said.

According to the report, the chaotic amendments to the actual legislation (87%) and permanent enterprise inspections by surveillance authorities (79%) mostly impede the business doing in the republic.

Entrepreneurs are also concerned of high taxes (89% of respondents) and limited access to bank credits (89%). And, 88% of respondents are concerned of the political instability in the country.

According to the interrogated people, the deficit of high-skilled labor power considerably hampers the business doing in the country (85%), as well as the impossibility to buy new technologies (75%) and low salaries (74%).

"But even in conditions of the economic crisis, small businesses were more flexible than big enterprises, which allowed them adapting themselves to market conditions, avoiding considerable losses", Drelinschi said.

The Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers people's organization was based in 2009. According to the association, about 40 thousand small and medium businesses are registered in Moldova, which is 98% of the aggregate number of enterprises in the country.
