Moldovan government seeks to privatize 0.5-billion-lei-worth facilities

State properties worth about half a billion lei will be put up for sale at investment and trade tenders.

The Public Properties Agency has announced that two unfinished constructions, built at 54-56 per cent, will be put up for privatization on 28 April. The administrative building of the Microbiology and Virusology Institute with an adjacent land of 9.0671 hectares is put up for sale at an initial price of 140 million lei. The state demanded 155 million lei for this facility in February 2011.

Eight constructions finished at 9-55 per cent, in particular kindergartens, two schools, a medical policlinic and a culture house, are to be sold at a lower price than the initial one as well.

Three movie theatres will be put up for sale at an investment tender due next mid May. At the same time, five state enterprises and an aircraft will be offered for sale at a trade tender. The state demands by 5-10 million lei less for these properties than during the last February tender. Thus, the initial selling price of the state enterprise Vibropribor, that manufactures electrical apparatuses for measurement, spare parts for optical instruments, is 145 million lei against 155 million lei in February 2011. The Guivaier jewelry plant is sold for 55 million lei against 60 million lei in last February. At the same time, the initial price of the Energoreparatii enterprise repairing energy equipment is 70 million lei. The state cut the initial price, after nobody bid for these enterprises at previous tenders.

The Public Properties Agency said that state public stocks and shares in four stock companies worth 16 million lei were sold at "call tenders" held on 22-25 February 2011. State facilities amounting to 1.3 million lei were sold on 24 February 2011.
