Moldovan industrial output dropped in 2009 by 22%
The Moldovan industrial output constituted 23.266 billion lei ($1.86 billion) in 2009 - 77.8% against 2008.
According to the National Bureau for Statistics, the slippage was caused mainly by a 32.1% decrease in the mining industry and by 24.3% - in the processing industry.
The output of foodstuffs and drinks, the industrial sector, which gives 40% of the total volume of the industrial output, decreased by 21.4%. In particular, the sugar production accounted only for 34.4% of the last year volume, of canned fruits and vegetables - 67.7% and of wine - 78.8 %.
The manufacture of machine tools dropped by 70.6%, of household devices - by 53.3%, machinery and equipment - by 43.3%, footwear - by 49.1%.
Experts of the National Bureau for Statistics designate the demand fall on Moldovan goods, in particular abroad, lack of raw materials and finance as the slippage reasons.
The production growth was registered only in the manufacture of combined fodders - by 40.5%, plastic items - by 17.7%, tobacco products - by 16.2% and electrical devices - by 9.2%. However, these goods constituted only an insignificant share of the Moldovan industrial output.
