Moldovan leu has appreciated by over 18% against US dollar
The Moldovan leu over the first six months of this year has appreciated by 18.17% in real terms and by 14.16% in nominal terms.
According to the central bank, the official average monthly exchange rate of the Moldovan leu against the US dollar has increased from 10.3416 lei per dollar in May to 10.0751 lei per dollar in June 2008. During June this year, the leu increased in value against the dollar from 10,2543 lei to 9,9214 lei.
The Moldovan leu has also appreciated against the euro – from 16.1003 lei per euro in May to 15.6458 lei per euro in June. Over June, the value of the leu against the euro rose from 15.9530 lei to 15.6238 lei per euro.
The national currency has appreciated against the Russian ruble from 0.4362 lei per ruble in May to 0.4256 lei per ruble in June. Early in June, one ruble cost 0.4329 lei, while at the end of the month – 0.4232 lei.//REPORTER.MD
