The sides reviewed the implementation of pre-conditions negotiated with the Millennium Challenge Corporation so that the Compact Agreement enters into force as soon as possible.

"The government promoted the ratification of the Compact Agreement in the Moldovan parliament. Now, we are giving the final touches to the legal framework necessary for the implementation of the programme," Filat said.

Filat noted that the civil society and the private sector were involved in the elaboration of documents that had been agreed upon with the corporation, noting that they would actively participate in the implementation of the programme too. The prime minister said that the public fund Millennium Challenge Moldova had been already created and would soon become operational.

He thanked the US side for having cooperated to work out the programme and voiced hope for tighter cooperation in its implementation.

"The government permanently monitors the performance indexes in order to maintain Moldova s eligibility for the corporation s funds," Filat said.

"The Compact Agreement is very important for us and our goal is to implement it successfully in order to subsequently be motivated and able to carry out new projects," Filat said.

Leslie McCuaig praised the promptitude and quality of measures taken by the government while cooperating with the Millennium Challenge Corporation. The institution s representative gave assurances that she would take efforts to contribute to the successful implementation of the Compact Agreement and other joint projects in Moldova which come to complete the economic reforms.
