Moldovan teachers, civil servants to receive higher salaries by 25 and 12.5 per cent in 2011
The teachers' salaries will increase by 12.5 per cent starting from 1 January 2011, and by another 12.5 per cent beginning with 1 September 2011, Prime Minister Vlad Filat told at a news conference held jointly with the head of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) mission in Moldova, Nikolay Gueorguiev. As many as 69,000 teachers will benefit from the rise.
The prime minister also said that, starting from 1 October 2011, the civil servants' salaries will grow by 13 per cent. Beginning with 1 July 2011, the salaries of the budget-paid auxiliary staff will increase by 8.5 per cent, from which 125,000 people will benefit.
At the same time, the government intends to give a monthly compensation worth 130 lei for the cold season to the retirees whose pensions are less than 900 lei and to needy families with a monthly income of less than 900 lei. The compensations will be provided as single payment worth 390 lei. As many as 521,000 pensioners and 33,000 people from less well-off families will benefit from compensations.
The annual indexation of pensions will take place on 1 April 2011, in line with the legal provisions.
The quantum of the minimal guaranteed social assistance income will increase from 530 to 575 lei. This will serve as a basis to extend the social assistance system by attracting new beneficiaries.
