The Moldovan winemakers have received the Exclusive Marketing Export Plan (MEP). On Thursday, this plan was presented to the organizers and experts of the Moldovan winemaking, who participated in “The Week of Moldovan Winemaking-2010”.

The author of the Marketing Export Plan is the Dutch Center for Promoting Imports from the Developing Countries (CBI), which began working out the Marketing Export Plan for the entire Moldovan wine sector a year ago on the Moldovan Government’s request.

According to Project Coordinator Jan Willem Richalma, the MEP may be useful, if it combines the CBI competence and the experience of local producers and exporters. For this purpose nine most advanced wine companies were invited to participate in this project.

The authors did not simply analyze the Moldovan winemaking sector and found favorable markets for it, but they also formulated the strategy, objectives and action program for entering these markets.

According to CBI expert Marco Tiggelmann, one of the most promising market pearls is the production of ecologically pure wine, which can be offered by Moldovan winemakers and the demand for which is quickly growing in Europe.

The author of the plan revealed the most painful aspects in promoting Moldovan wines to the EU markets and gave a lot of useful recommendations, including the need of creating the “Moldovan Wine” single brand up to cooperation tactics with operators of large trade networks.
