Moldovans to buy dwellings under First House programme

Moldovans will be able to buy dwellings under the programme Prima Casa (First House). The programme's goal is to facilitate private people's access to credits in order to buy dwellings.

Parliament Speaker, acting President Mihai Ghimpu and the leaders of Moldovan bank institutions reached an agreement to this effect at a today's meeting, the parliament's media and public relations department said.

The programme First House will make it possible for the state to implement a set of measures to facilitate people's access to purchasing dwellings given the financial and economic crisis, as well as to unblock the process of crediting and foster the activity in construction sector, which will lead to economic growth.

At the same time, the participants in the meeting discussed ways to provide long-term and low-interest loans both to private people and economic agents, as well as legislative and economic measures due to be implemented to create a friendly investment environment and to woo foreign investments to Moldova.

Participating in the meeting were the head of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance, Veaceslav Ionita, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Dorin Dragutanu, Chisinau general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and the head of the Federation of Employers of the Construction Sector, Pavel Caba.
