Moldova's industrial output and freight turnover decline in 2009
Moldova registered the CIS worst industrial output and freight turnover indicators for the first half-year.
According to the CIS Committee for Statistics, the average industrial slippage for the first half-year in the CIS countries constituted 15% against its 6 % growth a year earlier.
The record-breaking industrial recession was in Ukraine 31.3%. It was followed by Moldova - 24.9%. The industrial growth was registered only in Uzbekistan - by 9.1% and in Azerbaijan - by 1%.
As for the freight turnover Moldova showed the worst results - 37% against 2008, whereas the average CIS indicator was 80%. Ukraine showed 67.6% against 2008 and Russia - 75.8%.
Transport companies increased their freight turnover only in Tajikistan - by 9% and in Kyrgyzstan - 6.5%.
However, Moldova demonstrated the best consumer price index, which accounted for 1.1%, whereas the average CIS index constituted 13%. The highest inflation rate was registered in Ukraine - 17.6%, it was followed by Belarus - 14.6% and Russia - 13.1%.
The most considerable GDP decline against the first half-year of 2008 was registered in Ukraine - 20.3% and Armenia - 16.3%. There were no data about Moldova's GDP for the first half-year of 2009.
