Moldova's power station resumes electricity supplies to Romania
Moldavian Power Plant, located in the Transnistrian region and belonging to Russian company ‘Inter RAO UES’, has resumed interrupted export of electricity to Romania, said Ministry of Economy of Moldova.
According to the ministry, the supply of electricity to Romania was resumed by the station due to increase in electricity demand on the Romanian market. So far the volume of supplies of electricity to Romania from the Moldavian Power Station has been insignificant. It is planned that it will increase sharply after start of supply of electricity to the second high-voltage power lines of 110 kW.
Supplies of electricity to Romania were terminated in October this year because of reduction in electricity demand of the Romanian side due to reduction of consumption in the local market during the economic crisis. Earlier it was planned that the Moldavian GRES would resume electricity exports to Romania from 1 January 2010 in circumstances when, because of higher prices for Russia's natural gas in the Romanian and regional markets, electric energy generated by the Moldavian Power Station, would be more attractive in terms of price.
