Most of Moldova's exports - to European Union
In January-February the Moldovan exports accounted for $195.1 million - by 16.2% more against the same period of 2009. The imports constituted $450.7 million - 98.1% against the January-February period of 2009. As a result, the trade balance deficit dropped by 12.3% - to $255.6 million.
According to the National Bureau for Statistics, 53.5% of the Moldovan exports and 37.5% of its imports fell on the European countries, whereas 35.9% and 40.8% - on the CIS countries respectively. At the same time, the exports to the European Union decreased by 3.2% and to the CIS countries - increased by 3.5%.
The main consumer of Moldovan goods was Russia - $47.4 (+60.3%), Romania ranked second - $29 million (-16.3%). It was followed by Italy, which preserved the third position - $22.3 million (+16.8%).
The main export items were industrial goods - $49 million. They were followed by foodstuffs - $48.7 million (+19.1%) and machines and equipment - $27.6 million (+33.8%).
The main supplier of goods to Moldova was Russia - $120.5 million. It was followed by Ukraine - $52.1 (+9.8%) and Romania - $31.4 million (+32.2%).
Mineral resources constituted the main part of the Moldovan imports - $138.3 million, though their supply volume dropped by 8.7%. Machines and equipment took the second position - $76.8 million (-8.6%).
