October inflation exceeds 2 times September inflation


Prices in Moldova went up 1.5% in October on the average against 0.8% one month ago. The inflation level is 6.1% from the beginning of the year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the biggest price growth is observed for food stuff - 3.1%, while at the same time, prices on non-food goods went up only 0.9%, and 0.1% - on services.

Specialists of the bureau said the price growth has a season character. Thus, the most considerable price growth is noted for eggs among other food stuff - up 25.9%, vegetables - 21.7%, grapes - 7.7%; sunflower oil - 2.5%.

In comparison to September indices, prices on sugar went down 3.4%; on fruit - 1.8% and rice - 0.2%. At the same time, there is no data about buckwheat that almost disappeared from market shelves, but if it can be found - only at the price no lower than 25 lei per kg - 3 times more in comparison to the spring prices.

Concerning non-food goods, prices went up in October on household gas in cylinder - 4.2%, on coals - 3.1% and shoes - 1.3%. Experts revealed, in contrast to consumers, the price lowering on medications - 0.3%.

In the service field, there is marked a price growth on public catering - 1% and the housing repair - 1.1%. And overseas tourist voyages became cheaper - by 2.2% and also railroad transportation costs went down 2.1%.
