The Moldovan parliamentary opposition has said that acting President Vladimir Voronin made a mistake by going to Moscow to ask for financial assistance.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on 22 June that Russia may give Moldova a credit of 500m dollars, the first installment of which may be transferred in about two months.

The leader of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party, Vlad Filat, told a news conference on Monday, 22 June, that this was an adventure, because after Moldova receives money from Russia next autumn, it may have problems in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The leader of the Our Moldova Alliance, Serafim Urechean, said that Voronin had changed his strategy. "He has put an end to his travels to Europe in quest of money. Since the IMF refused to give credits, Voronin left for Moscow to ask for money," Urechean said.
