Orange investments in Moldova

The Orange investments in Moldova in 2007 constituted 657 million lei (USD58.6 million), twice as much against 2006.

In 2007 the Orange company installed 136 stations that allowed expanding, upgrading and strengthening its network security. The EDGE 100% coverage opened an access to the high-speed Internet up to 236Mb/sec and TV on mobile telephones in any spot of Moldova.

It should be noted that after eight years of the company’s successful activities at the Moldovan mobile telephony market the year 2007 became significant, as Voxtel company announced its re-branding and it became Orange.

The company administration considers that the transfer to the international brand allowed opening a whole world of new mobile telephony services – contents, entertainment, business and everyday services.

The Orange company covers currently 97% of Moldova’s territory and provides services to 98% of its population. Each third citizens of Moldova uses the Orange services. In 2007 - 400 thousand more people chose Orange that is 45% more against 2006. Only for the period of the 2007-2008 winter campaign 190 thousand new subscribers tapped to the Orange network and the number of its clients reached 1.27 million people.

Owing to the flexible tariff policy and expanding its range of services, talks in the network and its international traffic increased two times. The SMS flow increased by 141%, and the MMS one – by 373%. The number of the mobile Internet users tripled and the Internet Mobile Online traffic increased four times.

The company’s profit in 2007 constituted 1.7 billion lei or by 28% more against 2006. The sum of the taxes, paid to the budget, accounted for 310 million, including the VAT in the amount of 161 million lei. Orange allocated 6 million lei for various sponsor projects. // Infotag
