Orange Moldova earned a net profit of over 1 bn lei in 2008
Mobile telephony company Orange Moldova concluded year 2008 with a net profit of 1 bn 009.57 mln lei (about 92 mln USD), an increase of 27.7% compared to the result in 2007, according to the report data on the financial results of the operator.
According to the report presented by the company, in 2008 the net sales of Orange Moldova increased by over 20.3% compared to the previous year, totaling 2 bn 035.01 bn lei (over 185 USD).
In 2008, 355.3 thousand users connected to the company’s network, and at the end their number reached 1 mln 626.2 thousand. At present, the company accounts for 68.5% of the mobile telephony market in Moldova. Orange has a coverage area of 97.88% of the territory of Moldova and 99.20% of the population.
Orange is the first mobile telephony operator in Moldova that obtained a 3G license in August 2008. The company announced about the launch of its 3G network on 1 November 2008. The operator is active on the Moldovan market from 1998 under the brand Voxtel, and from 2000 as Orange.
