Orange obtains license to provide 3G telephone services
The National Regulatory Agency in Electronic Communications and Information Technology issued a license for providing third generation (3G) mobile telephone services to Orange-Moldova.
According to the Agency, Orange was authorized to provide such 3G telephone services as vocal telephony, SMS and MMS, roaming, data transport services, including access to mobile Internet, IP television throughout Moldova.
Orange - Moldova SA could take the license within 30 days of the day when it transferred the state tax of US$8 million to the budget. The license is offered for a period of 15 years and can be renewed for the same period. Orange must launch 3G services not later than August 1, 2009.
In a year, the license holder must cover the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, in the second year – the municipality of Comrat and Cahul, Orhei, Ungheni and Soroca district centers, while in the third year – the other 29 district centers.
The National Regulatory Agency in Electronic Communications and Information Technology invited the four mobile phone operators working in Moldova - Eventis SRL, Moldtelecom SA, Moldcell SA and Orange - Moldova SA – to file applications for 3G licenses on July 31.//REPORTER.MD
