Orhei bread factory will increase proces, even if state provides it with grain

The Orhei bread factory intends to build up its prices, even if the Government provides it with grain from the state reserve.

Director of the enterprise Maria Grecu said to your Infotag correspondent that, as far as fuels went up in prices, the bread prices can not be left at the same level.

"Flour prices went up considerably lately, thus, if one does not increase them on bread too, we will operate at a loss. Over last month, the price on high-quality flour imported from Ukraine went up to US$390 from US$315 per ton", Grecu said.

According to her, the state reserve grain is not advantageous for bread factories, as far as the Moldovan Agency for Material Resources supplies the grain at high interest rates.

"Bread factories will have to pay the Agency additional 3% of the grain cost (per every ton of grain borrowed from the state reserve till autumn) per every month of the usage. It is not a state aid, it is a business already", Grecu said.

Moreover, she said that a ton of the state grain costs 2.5-3.8 thousand lei, depending on the gluten content. But it is too expensive.

"Due to severe conditions provided by the state, our bread factory, as well as other sector enterprises, refused this grain in October 2010. And will refuse it now too", Grecu said.

In spite of the fact that the Government demanded to keep bread prices at same level, they continue going up. Almost all 13 bread factories of Orhei have already said about the price increase by at least 10%.

Infotag's dossier: In order to avoid a bread price increase, the Government decided on Wednesday to assign 8.67 thousand tons of grain from the state reserve. The amount must be divided between bread factories of 7 raions, on conditions that it will be returned before September 1.
