"Rethink Moldova" to be presented at EBRD annual meeting

A Moldovan delegation led by Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar will take part in the 19th Annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to be held in Zagreb (Croatia) on May 14-15. The delegation comprises high-ranked officials from relevant state institutions, commercial banks and audit companies.

The EBRD Moldova Country Office told Infotag that Libor Krkoska, the EBRD Resident Representative in Moldova, is already in Zagreb, where an investment forum will be held on Thursday evening to be attended by EBRD President Thomas Mirow.

The official presentation of Moldova's strategic document on country development in 2011-2013, called "Rethink Moldova", will take place at the Museum of Arts and Crafts of Croatia.

At the forum's governmental panel, the list of Moldova's speakers includes Valeriu Lazar and EBRD acting Executive Director at Chisinau Lucia Hadarca; business panel - Senior Manager of PriceWaterhouseCoopers Moldova company Adrian Sandu, Philip Santens - Head of the EU Project in support and promotion of Moldova's exports and growth of Moldova's investment attractiveness, and Moldindconbank Vice-President Alexander Sveriniuc.

The Zagreb campus of the EBRD Annual meeting will have 5 panels for forum participants to work at. The Annual meeting's sponsors are the Erste Grup, Raiffeisen International, UniCredit Grup, and the Financial Times.

Infotag's dossier: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has been working in Moldova since 1995, helping the republic to improve its business climate by means of providing direct foreign investments to local private companies through commercial banks. In 2000-2009, the EBRD had realized in Moldova nearly 60 projects total worth nearly US$550 million, of which three of every 4 projects - in the private sector.
