Romania's business center opens in Chisinau

A Romanian business center that aims to strengthen the Moldovan and Romanian trade and economic relations will be opened in Chisinau. This was said by the Vice Premier, the Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, at the end of the Moldo-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Partnership and European Integration assembly.

According to Infotag, Lazar stressed that the center will be opened within the investments week Moldova Business Week 2010 which will take place on June 22-25.

He also mentioned the parallels between the Moldovan and Romanian economy and saying that this is an obvious thing, since Romania is the second biggest trade partner of Moldova, after Russia.

The minister also said that the Romanian side was very open during the commission's assembly.

"Negotiations were mainly about European integration and we are thankful to our Romanian colleagues for their willingness to share their experience in this matter. This will make easier our fate", said Lazar.

The Minister of Romania Adrian Videanu said that the fifth session created premises for a pragmatic interactivity.

"We are ready to share our experience regarding the EU integration with our Moldovan brothers. As donors for certain projects we confirm our commitment to the earlier taken responsibilities", said Videanu.

Moreover, he declared that Romania is ready to activate the process of connecting the gas and electric networks of the both countries.

According to him, the major part of the project of building a 110 kilowatt electric line that will transit the territory of both countries is completed, and the project of Ungheni-Iasi line of 400 kilowatt is almost done.

A big progress of this projects was made when the Romanian President, Traian Basescu visited Chisinau and Moldova's Acting President, Mihai Ghimpu visited Bucharest.

The Romanian minister thinks that the protocol of the fifth session as well as the agreement about quality and conformity of merchandise will become the foundation for realizing the objectives of both sides.

"These are the results that we will get already starting with this summer", said Videanu.

The exports from Moldova to Romania exceeded US$ 239.6 million this year; however it is 28.6% less than the last years'. The imports from Romania to Moldova decreased by 47.2% to US$ 311.7 million. The biggest companies with Romanian capital in Moldova are DRA Draexlmaier, BCR Chişinău, Petrom-Moldova, Mobiasbanca Groupe Societe Genetrale, BT Leasing, Metro cash and Carry Moldova, ROMSTAL TRADE, Orange Moldova, Raiffeisen Leasing, European drinks import export.
